el fog (Masayoshi Fujita, originally from japan and now Berlin based) plays and composes with mainly vibraphone, using electronics, loops, live-processing, etc. He has been influenced and inspired by electronic music, dub, jazz, hip hop, etc, and pursues his own sound and own world. He played at Club Transmediale 09, the biggest electronic music festival in Berlin, together with Pan Sonic, Tilman Ehrhorn, Yasunao Tone, Shibuya Keiichirou and many other great musicians.
El Fog has released his 1st album “Reverberate Slowly” in 2007 from Moteer Records (UK), the label run by The Remote Viewer. Second album “Rebuilding Vibes” was released from flau, 2011.
藤田正嘉によるソロプロジェクト。神奈川県茅ケ崎市出身。2006年よりドイツ・ベルリンに拠点を移し活動している。ヴィブラフォンをメイン楽器と して演奏し、質感のあるエレクトロニクスサウンドやノイズと融合させている。エレクトロニック・ミュージックの他、ジャズ、ダブ、ヒップホップ、クラシッ クなどを消化し、独自の世界観を追求する。
幼少の頃より洋楽に傾倒し、ドラムを始める。いくつかのバンド活動を経た後、自分自身の音楽を作る事を始め、el fogへとつながる。時を同じくして、ヴィブラフォンという楽器に出会う。以来、ほぼ独学にて演奏法を学ぶと同時に、エレクトロニクスとの融合をはかり、 ヴィブラフォンの持つ新しい可能性を探求している。el fogという名前は、electronic fogの略であり、彼がこのソロプロジェクトで追い求める世界観の一端を表している。
Jan JelinekとのコラボレーションプロジェクトMasayoshi Fujita and Jan Jelinekとしても活動中。アルバム『Bird, Lake, Objects』をリリースし、各国のフェスティバルに招聘され、数多くのライブを行っている。
